What is Pyrophone?
Webster's Dictionary defines a pyrophone as "A musical instrument in which the tones are produced by flames... burning in tubes of different sizes and lengths." Art by fire.
In the New Testament book of Acts, God descends on the praying apostles in tongues of fire. When the apostles speak, each listener hears the message of God's salvation in his own native language. Words from God. Words by fire.
Earlier in the history of God's love for His people, the nation of Israel followed God out of slavery into the Promised Land. God appeared as a cloud by day, and by night He led them as a pillar of fire.
Art by fire. Words by fire. Led by fire. An instrument of God. Pyrophone symbolizes what I long to become. I have a long way to go...
The Goal of Pyrophone
The goal of Pyrophone is to worship God by helping others to creatively communicate His love. This will be done by providing world-class web and multi-media design to missions and churches around the world, Christian artists, writers and musicians as well as non-sectarian organizations who respect life and meet the needs of the poor and the abused.
The Present
At present I am training toward this goal in the following ways:
By seeking God through prayer, through the study of Scripture and through the pursuit of a quietly submitted inner life;
By striving to love and serve like Christ in my marriage, my family, my church and my community;
By training at Sessions School of Design;
By practicing design at my place of employment, VCE Digital.
While I'm in training, pyrophone.com will serve as an outlet for my creative work.
